Pre-Orchestra Rehearsal

  • Instructor: Leanna York
  • Schedule: 8am – 11am
  • Cost: $125

The Pre-Orchestra Track is designed for students already learning to play their instrument but not yet reading music on their own. It is often looked upon as a stepping stone to the beginner orchestra. In the roughly 3-hour morning sessions, the student will be taught music theory, rhythm/counting, string playing technique, and fundamental concepts of playing together. They’ll have two opportunities to apply what they have already learned by ministering in the mid-week service with the ‘wrap-around’ piece—playing with the beginner, intermediate and advanced orchestra campers—and at the Friday evening concert. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend the camp each day with their child.

Track Requirements:

  • Instrument in working condition
  • Basic understanding of how to play instrument
  • Level of play falling between ‘Etude’ in Suzuki Book 1 and ‘Hunters Chorus’ in Suzuki Book 2

Please note: Parents will need to pick up their children after the finish of each day’s session as no child care is available afterwards.
